Welcome
My name is Jonathan T. Cotton. I am currently employeed as a Staff Applications Engineering Specialist for Control, Embedded, Linux / Mac, and ATE systems at National Instruments in Austin, TX (http://www.ni.com/).
In the Application Engineering Specialist role, I focus on developing pre-sales proof of concepts, system integration and turnkey application development, as well as system deployment and long term maintenance for extremely large systems. I work closely with National Instrument's Sales Force, Research & Development, and other Application Engineering Specialists and Systems Engineers on a regular basis. I became an Application Engineering Specialist in April 2008 and began working at National Instruments in June 2007.
I am currently a Certified LabVIEW Architect as well as a TestStand Certified Developer. My core areas of competency include LabVIEW, TestStand, Modular Instruments and DAQ, Linux, Mac, C/C++, CVI, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA. I am also familar with .NET and other traditional programming languages.
I graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics from Texas Tech University (http://www.ttu.edu/).
My fields of specialization during college included: web application development, database design and administration, systems administration, and embedded system design. Examples of my experience in these fields can be found in my portfolio as well as in the technical papers area of this Web site.
